The HSC uses a Grade Point Average (GPA) system on a 5.0 scale. Marks are divided into ranges: 80-100 (A+ / 5.0), 70-79 (A / 4.0), 60-69 (A- / 3.5), 50-59 (B / 3.0), 40-49 (C / 2.0), 33-39 (D / 1.0), and 0-32 (F / 0.0).

How many subjects are in the HSC Examination?+

The 4th Subject Rule

A unique feature of the HSC result process is the "GPA-2 Rule" for optional (4th) subjects. This allows students to boost their scores significantly.

The GPA-2 Deduction: In calculation, 2.0 points are subtracted from your 4th subject's grade point.
Failure Exception: Unlike SSC, if you fail the 4th subject in HSC, your overall GPA doesn't become 0.00. It's simply excluded.

The formula aggregates 3 compulsory subjects, 3 elective subjects, and the adjusted 4th subject point.
